Who Is Eligible to Stay at the Ronald McDonald House?

Families with a child undergoing medical treatment at a Buffalo hospital, who would otherwise travel a distance of more than 25 miles back to their home, may stay at the Ronald McDonald House. It is suggested that reservations be made for a room at the House prior to a family’s arrival to determine availability of rooms. Room fee is $15 per room, per night.

Referrals for families come from a variety of sources, including hospital staff, nurses, doctors, and social workers. Referrals may be made from 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week by calling the House at (716) 883-1177. A Letter of Medical Necessity must be presented upon check-in. This is a note on hospital stationery stating that it is necessary for parents to stay at the House to be near their children. This is standard practice in most Houses.
